WebDouble check what your gloss is though, whether it's acrylic or enamel based. As if you use an enamel wash on an enamel gloss the two will react. Thats why i like flory washes, as they're water based they don't react with anything. As the other chap says, exactly that, decals in the real world were painted onto planes.

From my experience the Vallejo wash is way more suited for small yet detailed areas. It can be scrubbed off, but not very well.
