I believe the camhead buzziness was due to poor fueling in order to make the older engine smog legal in the EU and USA and elsewhere.

The top of the the engine seems incredibly noisy above 3000rpm. Cruising along at 80-100km/h it seems to make a metallic almost rasping clatter.
